OUR HISTORY
Dreamscape Learn was founded through a collaboration between Arizona State University and Dreamscape Immersive, a Los Angeles–based immersive entertainment company led by filmmaker Walter Parkes (Gladiator, Men in Black) and industry partners. The idea emerged in 2019 when ASU President Michael Crow visited a Dreamscape VR experience and saw the potential to apply cinematic storytelling and immersive technology to education. For years, Crow had envisioned learning environments where students step into the roles of scientists and investigators. Dreamscape’s technology and creative approach made that vision possible. Together, ASU and Dreamscape began building a new model for immersive education that combines cinematic storytelling with immersive technology and evidence-based pedagogy to deliver rigorous, story-driven learning in core disciplines. Early pilots showed strong results. Students were more focused, more motivated, and performed better academically. The company’s first full course, Biology in Dreamscape, reimagines the traditional biology lab as an immersive field research experience. Students act as biologists studying endangered alien species inside a futuristic intergalactic sanctuary while mastering foundational biology concepts aligned with standard curricula. At Arizona State University, these immersive courses produced measurable results. In multi-year randomized controlled trials, students using Dreamscape Learn were 1.7 times more likely to earn an A in core biology courses. Median lab grades increased by nine points, achievement gaps narrowed significantly, and more students persisted into advanced coursework and continued along STEM pathways. Today, Dreamscape Learn is expanding across grade levels and institutions, bringing research-backed immersive learning to classrooms of every kind. Guided by our mission to drive new levels of student success in school and beyond, Dreamscape Learn gives educators new ways to engage students and help them build the essential skills needed for the future.

Students study; they apply knowledge and concepts; they learn by doing and they do in order to learn; they learn from text, from lecture, from visual and audio media, from hands-on experience and from each other. We design programs and products that tie all these modes of engagement together.
